Interviewer:... Welcome back to health talk, I am Dr. Ronald Hoffman and as promised, we have an expert in the studio on ayurvedic medicine, he is Yogi Ji, he is well known throughout the world. He is a scholar and he has invented the whole line of herbal products, which you have to hear about in his program. And Yogi Ji has asked me as a preface to this interview to share with you this particular moral: herbs heal, doctors diagnose but God cures.
Interviewer:……
YB: And God cures.
YB:神疗愈。
Interviewer: Indeed, indeed and well tell us little about what that message.
YB: Because it is a very old saying, 'you are what you eat. ' The mechanical system of the blood which contains the glandular mixture and that's what your life is all about, you have to understand that your food does affect you in and out. And in the olden time when we didn't have modern medicine, all we had is herbs;
YB:因为这是一句很老的话,「你吃什么,你就是什么。」血液的机械系统里含着腺体的混合物,你的整个生命就是这样运作的。你得明白,你的食物确确实实从里到外影响着你。在过去,我们没有现代医学,我们有的就是草本;
you have to understand that your food does affect you in and out. And in the olden time when we didn't have modern medicine, all we had is herbs; some we cook, some we eat raw, some we just eat as roots and that's how we used to cure ourself and sunshine and exercise and herbs, that was our whole medical science, we never stray from that and now we have become very civilized, you know it is just now one in a box, it's called ointment and walk is very rare, and car is all the way to anything.
So there is a shortage of exercise and it is to make the food very tasty, we have all the grease in the world and lot and everything else. So after all, body is breaking down under the impression of that indigestion and we have extra weight, extra meat, everything else.
everything else. So after all, body is breaking down under the impression of that indigestion and we have extra weight, extra meat, everything else.
Now our national thing is saying that you should be vegetarian. If you are not vegetarian, you should eat minimum six times vegetables, six to nine times, you know now they are discovering; we used to have a cinnamon toast in the morning every child, now we have forgotten that and now we have virus everywhere. We knew the cinnamon toast contain, we knew the pears can break away all the stones in the body and the fibrosis will not bother. We knew that if we take a one banana in the morning and four o'clock grapes, we will not have any potassium deficiency. We knew all those things.
We knew apple a day saves the life and keeps the doctor away, we also knew one onion a day will keep the cancer away; we knew also the carrot juice will give our ENT all the strength; we knew that our teeth need help in simple massage on the gums, and we knew alum and salt put together, you will see the shine, they are bright and they are very clean.
Interviewer: These are all the basic secrets of ayurvedic medicine...
put together, you will see the shine, they are bright and they are very clean.
Interviewer: These are all the basic secrets of ayurvedic medicine...
YB: It is three thousand years formula, it is all written, it is recorded, it is not something anybody can do about it, it is what the facts are. We started helping America, when the young people in the age were hippies and drugs were heavy, so I started working with Woodstock Nation and became very great leader of the... but we gave them life, the style, understanding, health and we brought them back to normalcy. So they can face the civilized world and from there, it all started but it was very difficult to convince people to go and pick up the herb and go, do this.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Right.
YB: So, we started Yogi tea.
Interviewer: (----)
YB: And we started putting different herbs in it and everybody can drink a cup of tea and effect is right there stimulant in two seconds, there is no problem that anybody has to worry about it.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: That's it, these are medicinal teas but are they designed as medicines or as designed as taste...
that anybody has to worry about it.
Interviewer: That's it, these are medicinal teas but are they designed as medicines or as designed as taste...
YB: The food supplement, tasty food supplement. They are not medicine at all but they work wonders.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Because they can't take as medicine is that, you know kind of whole you knows when you take it and taste back...
YB: No, no, no, they are very tasty, they are very bombardingly very wonderful, they will start in five minutes, doing what they say, they will be doing. And they are very, I mean to say, we are not only we are number best in the United States, we are sending to Korea, we are going to send to Japan, they are going to send to South East Asia—idea is the people wants to live well and live young.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Also it's to launch every religious theme for...
YB: And that is where we are helping.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: What is your favorite formulations of ayurvedic herbs?
to launch every religious theme for...
YB: And that is where we are helping.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: What is your favorite formulations of ayurvedic herbs?
YB: Now we have, we have lot of capsules made out of like 7R is for anybody who wants to relax, 3R is anybody who has a back pain, 2R is anybody who has a arthritis and all that, like 1R is just keeping you regular and stimulating and 20R is for when you have tremendous amount of continuous headache, you can get out of it. So we have very simple formula and they are very well tested and they are very well grounded but they are the food supplements.
Interviewer: And as far as the taste, you know some of my favorites are, cinnamon spice is one of the...
YB: The cinnamon you eat, you will likes cinnamon because cinnamon will takeaway from your blood any effect of mucus, your body will not hold extra mucus, you will remain skinny, you may feel good. That's why every child in the morning in United States used to have a cinnamon toast, it's all gone now.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: That was a tradition and it is...
YB: Now it is nothing, now it is just cookies and chips and this and that...
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Snack, walnuts we orient.
was a tradition and it is...
YB: Now it is nothing, now it is just cookies and chips and this and that...
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Snack, walnuts we orient.
YB: Yeah, I mean to say, this is how it was. And we are changing our food, we are changing our salad, salads are very light; we used to have very heavy salads and we used to use three things; ginger, ginger ale came out, like it was a pure ginger drink.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Right. Especially it will help for diabetes...
YB: It is gone, Sarsaparilla is gone, now for this there are tons of drinks. I mean there are certain things which people have forgotten; forgetting that when we settled in America, how great it was and how we settled it. Spirit is there, we are born as spiritual being for human experience, we are not born human being for spiritual experience. Then you know three thousand years, we are finding God and God is finding us, we do not know who is missing who? But fact is when we have energy, we use two-third of our body energy, just to digest heavy food and we live on remaining one-third. Why not we use two-third and remain on one-third? And that's the point of difference.
just to digest heavy food and we live on remaining one-third. Why not we use two-third and remain on one-third? And that's the point of difference.
Interviewer: Sarsaparilla are herbs and have specific functions in ayurvedic medicine and ginger for example we talked about, what is ginger going to produce?
YB: Ginger takes away the poison of the body. It keeps the body, inner, inner lining warm and the poison which spoils the body or it creates the terminal diseases, ginger stops that.
Interviewer: Ginger actually now of course you mentioned this is part of the ayurvedic tradition but now modern science is showing the ginger has anti-bodies...
YB: Modern science has learned about garlic the same way. And modern science is now understanding, if you want to eliminate cancer, people have to eat raw onion a day. Modern science is coming all the way up to the point of these, they want... Now, people do not believe that their system is correct; they want to have now a correct system is get knowledge Indian and Japanese, Chinese, Indonesians, anywhere where there knowledge is. American is willing to go.
to have now a correct system is get knowledge Indian and Japanese, Chinese, Indonesians, anywhere where there knowledge is. American is willing to go.
to have now a correct system is get knowledge Indian and Japanese, Chinese, Indonesians, anywhere where there knowledge is. American is willing to go.
Interviewer: And some of new formulas are combinations of green tea with kombucha, tell us little about the properties of kombucha many of our listeners know about it but...
YB: It is, it is a technically, it change the resilience of the body, you know you deteriorate and sometimes, the dead cells doesn't come out and they start stocking blocks. And green tea is very pushing, it pushes out all the garbage out and kombucha helps to replace it, it brings in the youthfulness. So we put two together in Yogi tea and get it going.
Interviewer: In the green tea off course, again science is validating...
YB: It's a best selling tea, right now.
Interviewer: Absolutely, it's...
Interviewer:
YB: And if people who take it, they have, they tell you the stories which you don't want to believe.
Interviewer: Right, well, green tea, clearly has a role in the prevention of heart disease and cancer...
the stories which you don't want to believe.
the stories which you don't want to believe.
Interviewer: Right, well, green tea, clearly has a role in the prevention of heart disease and cancer...
YB: It makes you up rather than taking a Turkish coffee in the morning and whole day feeling dozy and this is something, and moreover the problem is, the people are getting so much headache because of bad food. So all this light teas put the headaches away and people can work better and they can work alert, they can work bright and within the range of that God.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Do you see that these teas is becoming coffee substitute for many people?
YB: Majority of the people, not only Yogi, Yogi tea originally I originated to help people who are addict to liquor and liquor and the drugs. Really, it's a substitute.
Interviewer: (----)
YB: Well, it will just cleanse the liver. It is the most powerful tea, which works on the liver.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Well, I take upon the theme, because I think that's an interesting point that some of these teas have anti-addictive and we generally will talks about...
I take upon the theme, because I think that's an interesting point that some of these teas have anti-addictive and we generally will talks about...
YB: Yeah, but you know when we started, every young kid you know when I was working in United States, every young kid was just lying down and spaced out and all that. And to cover them we started doing certain, giving them certain food and giving them freely handful of Yogi tea, so that, their liver can start re-functioning and their body can reinstate themself and that's what, that was which created the miracle.
Interviewer: Our guest tonight is Yogi Ji he is the originator of very innovative line of the ancient healings, formulas and modern delicious form, Yogi teas and I am Dr. Ronald Hoffman and this is health talk.
Interviewer: We can do another segment.
YB: I know, commercial break.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Commercials... How are you doing? Good.
YB: Well, we are, we are honored, this is what people want to know.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Anyway, we want it, okay, ten minutes?
How are you doing? Good.
YB: Well, we are, we are honored, this is what people want to know.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Anyway, we want it, okay, ten minutes?
Interviewer: Welcome back to health talk, I am Dr. Ronald Hoffman our guest tonight is Yogi Ji; it is a famous that 'herbs heal, doctors medically diagnose but God cures' and there is obviously the primacy of the spiritual message in ayurveda—you can take different medications and you can take herbs but it's a very important message about the spirit and about...
YB: The best thing in ayurveda, which you are taught it and you live by the breath of life. So your left nostril and right nostril balance the body and body temperature and does the circulation and all that. Therefore, the best thing is how to early in the morning get up, stretch your body, stretch your limbs and get going; and then you sit down and calm down and breathe through the left nostril, exhale through the right nostril, that gives you a elementary personality.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Now, lot of people say, this is yoga and lot of people have said that the yoga is actually a science. How was it developed as a science? What is scientific about it?
say, this is yoga and lot of people have said that the yoga is actually a science. How was it developed as a science? What is scientific about it?
YB: But you know originally, let us say about three thousand year ago people wanted to be absolutely healthy, they want to have self-control, they want to have self-dignity. Those were days of self-honor, you have to come out for sacrifice anytime you want, you have to answer every call. People needed tons of energy; so they developed a method through which they can always be physically, mentally and spiritually smart.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Do we have to be extra special limber to do yoga or can...
YB: No, no, no, no, if you are very uptight and cracking, after two, three months, you will be fine. Question is, normal body of a baby and normal body of a man is no different. Simply baby has to do growing exercise, you know baby always put his legs out, hands out and move.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: (----)
YB: Yeah, they are there, but question is the old man will sit on the chair and snore, and this is what ultimately man found out that he will become insensitive, numb, rigid and that's not life. So, they started working...
Yogi Bhajan:
and snore, and this is what ultimately man found out that he will become insensitive, numb, rigid and that's not life. So, they started working...
Interviewer: So, it's not a natural process that people end up like that, it's a general process that we can avoid.
YB: Yeah, mentally when you are not active, it will come to you. It's not something you can always think you can conquer it. Yoga systematically help you to conquer it, so that you can remain; you know you must die, you must live, that's not the problem. But as much you live, you must live energetic, healthy and with full swing.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: And what role this meditation plays in all this?
YB: Meditation is, when your brain is in order, your whole life is in order.
Interviewer: So, meditation doesn't necessarily mean that, you have to sit...
is, when your brain is in order, your whole life is in order.
Interviewer: So, meditation doesn't necessarily mean that, you have to sit...
YB: You know, the meditation system is like when, when you will start your day, your intellect releases one thought, thousand thoughts per wink of the eye. Each thought has to become feeling, it has to become emotion, it has to become desire. And in that role, sometime you complete nothing or you are just feeling very empty and depressed and all that. With meditation, all those unwanted thought, which you have never exercised in life, go to the subconscious. And then subconscious when get overloaded, it starts coming into the unconscious; and then people have nightmare, they have stress, they have Epstein-Barr; name a thing, they can't even walk sometime.
With meditation, your meditation is based on one mantra, one word which has been given to you and you with the tongue, you chant that with the upper thalamus, hypothalamus and that which stirrup the whole brain. And then you concentrate and your thoughts start moving out, all the garbage will hit and in half an hour, you will be clean.
stirrup the whole brain. And then you concentrate and your thoughts start moving out, all the garbage will hit and in half an hour, you will be clean.
Interviewer: Are there are places that our listeners can access where they can learn more about this process yoga and meditation.
YB: Well, there are lot of yoga centers here in New York, I mean to say, there are less doctors and more Yogis here; one of that out of it, it is 3HO foundation, you can find it in the telephone directory and you can call them...
Interviewer: Do we have a number where the listeners can access?
Interviewer:
YB: Do you have a number?
Interviewer: That we can get a number but in each time...
Interviewer:
YB: Take the number.
Interviewer: Yeah, let us talk about us, we will get the number just a second for listeners.
What about you mentioned the properties of herbs to release toxins and they help people get rid of bad habits of the drug here is there are lot of people in a Woodstock here is, Far behind is but a lot of young people, along who are using drugs. A lot of people are using prescription drugs, they will take headache remedies every single day.
but a lot of young people, along who are using drugs. A lot of people are using prescription drugs, they will take headache remedies every single day.
YB: You know but you understand, I am not against any drug but you can take a Tylenol, keep on taking Tylenol, the pain will not go away. There is no guarantee your pain will go away, the guarantee is that you want to get to the root of it. The difference between a medical treatment and a yogic treatment is they want to find the cause and remove the effect. That is their beauty, that's their personality and that's what we are trying to make people understand that you can take care of yourself very, very much.
That's why we, that's why we have massage oil and they are different than any massage oil, because we understand people want to take care of their skin, people want to take care of their muscle, people want to take care of their life. That's why we have a Wahe Guru chew, it's a candy; one Wahe Guru chew, forget about whole day, you will feel absolutely fulfilled.

YB: Tea, tea affects you in exact three minutes. Tea goes into the bloodstream and the effect of the herb in it joins the bloodstream and within that time, the whole body started being alert to it and it start effectively giving the person what he needs to be having. It's a very positive approach and it's a quick approach, and it's more old than we can lie about it. Chinese from (?) they started tea, Japan tea ceremony takes seven hours, I went through one ceremony myself, seven hours, after that I got a little cup of tea—but drinking that cup of tea, three nights I couldn't sleep, I was just flying in the air.
Yogi Bhajan:
So, I mean to say the herbs can become power in you and that power save your life, consumption of your prana and that makes you healthy, happy and holy.

Interviewer:... An opportunity to get off of coffee and stimulants and for kids they offer opportunity to get off sodas because you literally take these teas, (?) and put him in the refrigerator and kids could drink it like sharabat.
YB: My only problem is that the people should understand, when you take all the stimulants, then you have to come down and it makes your body and mood and physical health a yoyo. This is constant, consistent carrying you and it's carrying you all the way through. And it's very helpful when you are young because you want lot of activities; it's very helpful when you are old, you want to sustain your character.
Yogi Bhajan:

And deep from your experience in being in this country and working with Americans, do you have a message that you want to impart to Americans about where we should be headed in the next, now perhaps in the next morning, in the next...

YB: One century. Next century, next century we should get to the world and take all the knowledge of the herbs, healing ways and all from one tribe to another, from one square mile to another square mile, we should learn everything and we should become the most learned nation.
Yogi Bhajan:
Interviewer: Do you see that this nation has potential to integrate? You know all the hi-tech wisdom that we became...
