So, actually speaking, it's a very, very, crucifying state of consciousness, in which a spiritual teacher lives and walks today on this earth. You can't speak the truth, because you have a compassion to reach maximum people. And you offend those, who holds the via media of it. And you can't be diplomatic, because you don't know how to be that way. So in-between, one has to live his state of consciousness, which is the state of compromise.

所以，说实话，今天一位灵性老师在这个地球上生活和行走时，所处的是一种非常、非常受钉刑般的意识状态。你不能说真话，因为你有慈悲，想触及最多的人。而你会冒犯那些守着中间路线的人。你也不能圆滑，因为你不知道怎么做。于是夹在中间，一个人只能活出他自己的意识状态，那就是妥协的状态。

People talk about meditation. And meditation sometime, is very badly misunderstood. What I have found in four years in United State of America, people are giving meditation, just straight away giving mantras and now the result is showing up. They are unable to; first of all, it works very well for a few minutes or few years or few, fewer time and then they start having the aftereffects of that meditation. And that's what I am very much concerned about it.

人们谈论冥想。而冥想有时被严重误解。我在美国四年里发现，人们教冥想，直接就给曼陀罗，现在后果开始显现了。他们做不到；首先，它能在几分钟、几年或更短的时间里起很好的作用，然后他们就开始承受那种冥想带来的后遗症。这正是我非常担心的地方。

You must understand yoga is a scientific research of man, consciously lowing his own supreme conscious potentials. Therefore it's not proper for anybody to go into it fast or come out of it fast. There's a reasonable way to do it and it can be done by everybody.

And today, I'll just give you, I'll share with you the technical know-how, for everyone, for each one, how basically you can do it. It will be basic and basic requirement of all the people, if they want to do it.

We have got five fingers including the thumb, little finger is known as the Mercury, the ring finger is known as the Sun finger, central known as the Saturn finger and the first finger we call it Jupiter finger and then the dragon tail and dragon head, or the ego of the male.

Between the eyebrows and the root of the nose, meditate on that point for few minutes with breath; breathe in, breathe out. That is known as Nadi Sodni, cleansing of the channels of the body and bringing a harmony. In this harmony, you can go deeper and deeper and deeper.

The 'Ma,' it should touch the Mercury finger. And it becomes a instrument music of your own and your hand become your own musical instrument.

Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma. While doing this, we are communicating as we are communicating. The tips, the tips in the fingers controls the brain cells and the nervous system of the brain, the great computer in the head of the man and it stimulates and permutates and combines with certain combinations of faculties in which the charge energy goes up and down and while doing that it creates a state of consciousness, where you can receive the realms of higher consciousness. In the beginning there was a word, word was with God, word is God. So, you can take the realm of those sound and cut through the barrier of the subconscious mind. And your creative intelligence can overcome the conception of your intellect thought wave, which is all the time bothering you, in your lifestyle.

Sa，Ta，Na，Ma；Sa，Ta，Na，Ma。做这个的时候，我们是在沟通，就像我们在沟通一样。指尖，指尖控制着脑细胞和大脑的神经系统，也就是人脑中那台伟大的计算机，它刺激、排列、组合某些官能的特定组合，电荷能量在其中上下流动，这样做的时候，它会创造出一种意识状态，让你能接收到更高意识的领域。起初有道，道与神同在，道就是神。所以，你可以承接那些音的领域，切穿潜意识心智的屏障。你的创造性智力能够超越你智性念头的构想，那念头一直在你的生活方式里困扰着你。

However, if it is not getting more technical, then start doing it slowly and gradually, louder and louder and then get into the lovers' language, which is known as whisper, 'Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma, Sa, Ta, Na, Ma.'

不过，如果不想搞得更技术化，那就开始慢慢地、渐渐地做，越来越大声，然后进入恋人的语言，也就是所谓的耳语，「Sa，Ta，Na，Ma；Sa，Ta，Na，Ma，Sa，Ta，Na，Ma。」

If you would have done chanting first five minutes and then you have whispered for five minutes. After that you can go deep back into the sound of the silence for five minutes, it takes fifteen minutes. And then you can come back exactly the same way, so fifteen-fifteen means thirty minutes. If these thirty minutes cannot do anything good with you and these four sounds cannot give anything to you or this one basic word, 'word was with God,' cannot do anything for you, then I don't think as a Yogi Bhajan I can do anything for you.

'Sa' means totality, the beginning of the earth or the planet or the galaxy, the whole universe, universe beyond universe, unlimited universe, which Guru Nanak said,

So, 'Sa,' the totality; 'Ta,' the life, existence, the heat; 'Na,' the death, nothingness, absolute Sunna-Samadh, the basic principle and 'Ma,' the resurrection, rebirth, reproductivity, continuity. So, these are the basic sounds, four sounds, doubled and thus create a word Shabad, they call it, word.

所以，「Sa」，整体；「Ta」，生命、存在、热力；「Na」，死亡、虚无、绝对的 Sunna-Samadh，根本原理；「Ma」，复活、重生、再生、延续。所以，这些是基本的声音，四个声音，加倍之后，就造出一个词——Shabad，他们叫它，话语。

So, in the beginning there was a word, word was, word is with God, is with God, now it is with you, God is within you. You have to find the realm of your kingdom within you. And with this word within you, you have to create this meditation. It's a creative intelligence, which can break through the realms of the subconscious mind. The conscious mind can break through the subconscious mind and you can perceive, receive, feel, experience the supreme conscious mind.

所以，太初有话语，话语与神同在，与神同在，现在它与你同在，神就在你之内。你必须在你自己之内找到你王国的界域。带着你之内这个话语，你必须创造出这个冥想。它是一种创造性的智力，能够穿透潜意识心智的界域。显意识心智能够穿透潜意识心智，你就能感知、接收、感受、体验那至高的意识心智。

This kind of meditation should be done with a spine straight, that's one little condition with it. And you should always clean your body. Therefore you have to have a shower. You have a creative power to create this sound. I repeat it for you, Sa, Sa, S A, Sa; Ta, T A, Ta; Na, N A, Na; Ma, M A, Ma.

这种冥想应该脊柱挺直来做，这是它一个小小的条件。而且你应该始终保持身体洁净。所以你得冲个澡。你有创造这个声音的创造力。我为你重复一遍，Sa，Sa，S A，Sa；Ta，T A，Ta；Na，N A，Na；Ma，M A，Ma。

So, this is a space age, I think in this Christ consciousness, God consciousness and human consciousness and love consciousness, whatever you want to call it, this is very practical way to reach you, to do this meditation. Do it again and again. When you will do this type of meditation lot of light, lot of colors will start being shown to you at the third eye point. Do not worry about it, that's a normal situation. And the second is that when you will be just little go deeper into this, you will hear lot of super sounds around your own ears, which you have never heard before. Don't feel that you have achieved something or it is important for you, just bypass that. So, all those lights and all those sounds, which you hear, bypass them and beyond that. Then you will start having a power to listen to something, which is to happen, to feel and know, what is to happen. Feel what other man is going to talk to you, what realm of mind he has got, you can read anybody's mind.

Don't worry about these supernatural powers; they come to a very ordinary man. Beyond that there is a realm of contentment. That is the realm through which this word you can find it and that is the realm, then the universe will serve you. Then you sit uptight and just enjoy your own self and everything will happen right in time for you. Isn't it great, great gift to do?

别去操心那些神通；它们会降临到一个极其普通的人身上。在那之上，还有一个满足的境界。就是那个境界，通过这个词你能找到它，而一旦到了那个境界，宇宙就会为你服务。那时你端坐不动，只是享受你自己，一切都会在恰当的时候为你发生。这难道不是一件了不起的、了不起的礼物吗？

This is how I sing it, 'Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa, Ta, Na, Ma; Sa. Purushotama: Yogi Ji, what, what is the Nam?

Purushotama：Yogi Ji，什么，什么是 Nam？

YB: Nam is the sound that is the Shabad. That is, that must have certain sound and light principle involved in it.

YB：Nam 就是那个声音，就是 Shabad。也就是说，它里面必定涉及某种声音与光的原理。

Purushotama: Is that the Nam that you just (?).

Purushotama：那就是你刚才（？）的那个 Nam 吗？

YB: That is the Nam, that is the, that is the Nam, that is the Nam in the human form when we speak that way, then four sounds we talk about, Sa, Ta, Na, Ma.

YB：那就是 Nam，那就是，那就是 Nam，那就是以人的形态呈现的 Nam，当我们那样说的时候，我们谈到四个声音，Sa，Ta，Na，Ma。

Purushotama: Can, can one practice the Nam without any practice of yoga or, or do they compliment?

Purushotama：一个人能不能不练瑜伽就修 Nam，还是说，两者是互补的？

YB: Yoga has to be done; in the sense, you have to learn how to keep your spine straight, you have to have a perfect posture. And yoga gives you a perfect posture. Posture has to be perfect.

YB：瑜伽必须做；意思是，你必须学会如何保持脊柱挺直，你必须有一个完美的姿势。而瑜伽给你一个完美的姿势。姿势必须完美。

Purushotama: Can you practice yoga without the Nam?

Purushotama：那能不能不修 Nam 只练瑜伽？

YB: Well, it is just driving a car without a gas. I mean to say, you ten people can get around and, and push it. Nam is the ultimate, Nam is a... without Nam there is nothing. I mean to say, yoga doesn't mean anything without Nam. Nam is the final realm, which one must achieve, word.

YB：嗯，那就好比开一辆没油的车。我的意思是说，你们十个人可以围着它，推着它走。Nam 是终极，Nam 是……没有 Nam，什么都没有。我的意思是说，没有 Nam，瑜伽毫无意义。Nam 是最终的境界，是人必须达到的，那个词。

Purushotama: Can you, would you characterize Nam as devotion, as a, the relation to Nam as a devotion?

YB: No.

YB：不。

Purushotama: A feeling of devotion or feeling of knowledge?

Purushotama：是一种奉爱的感觉，还是一种知识的感觉？

YB: No, no, no, no, nothing, it is beyond everything. Nam means the sound of the infinite realms or sound of the supreme consciousness. And I don't know, whether people will feel right or wrong, but after about ten other thousand years, what I am saying today will come true. Man will find certain sounds and certain frequencies of sound, which he doesn't know even, he has not started to know it. I mean to say we are so illiterate and so limited in our knowledge.

YB：不，不，不，不，什么都不是，它超越一切。Nam 意味着无限境界的声音，或者说最高意识的声音。我不知道人们会觉得对还是错，但大约再过一万年，我今天所说的会成真。人类会发现某些声音、某些声音的频率，那是他连知道都还不知道的，他还没开始知道。我的意思是说，我们的知识是如此贫乏，如此有限。

Purushotama: Is music a way to the sound?

Purushotama：音乐是通往音流的一条路吗？

YB: It is one way, it's one of the ways. One of; one of the meditation, which we use in Kundalini Yoga to make a man Kalimaan. Kalimaan means one who has the experience of the Kundalini. And it's very, very top secret and well-guarded secret, unknown and cannot be told to anybody. But, what is there when sun rises, this is the Kundalini time, so, let everybody share it.

YB：它是一种方式，是其中一种方式。是我们在昆达里尼瑜伽里用来让人成为 Kalimaan 的冥想之一。Kalimaan 的意思是，一个体验过昆达里尼的人。这是非常、非常顶级的秘密，是严守的秘密，不为人知，不能告诉任何人。可是，太阳升起的时候，那就是昆达里尼的时刻，所以，让每个人都来分享它吧。

Purushotama: So, you are, you are sharing, you are sharing a kind of practice, which has been secret in the past and...

YB: Yeah,

YB：是的，

Purushotama: Now you feel like it could be revealed.

YB: It is, it is the time it is because I feel that all the people have to practice it. Well, I am a channel you know, water comes to your house and water pipe is not important, water is important, knowledge is important. I mean to say those people who have their Karma in their life that today they will hear this tape. They will only hear who are supposed to hear, everybody won't switch on their radio even today. But those, whom this is meant for, shall happen. I mean to say, you were supposed to interview me, you are interviewing me. If I would not have come, you would not have interviewed, things would have been different.

YB：是的，是时候了，因为我觉得所有人都必须练习它。嗯，我是一个通道，你知道，水来到你家，水管不重要，水才重要，知识才重要。我的意思是说，那些生命里有这种业力的人，今天就会听到这盘磁带。只有该听到的人才会听到，不是每个人今天都会打开收音机。但是那些注定要听到的人，就会听到。我的意思是说，你注定要来采访我，你就在采访我。如果我没来，你就不会采访，事情就会不一样。

Nothing can be called an accident and there's no such thing as accident. Man is just a puppet of an environmental universal energy, so crossed with the time and space, that it is a orbit of it, which moves on. And this bindu, this point, this creature, he has to move in those realms, though he has a corridor. Like air corridor, you know you can go twenty miles north, twenty miles south, in-between you can run around. But crossing the corridor is not within the realms until you have the power to have known the depth of other realms then you can do it.

Purushotama: Is this country a suitable place to reveal Kundalini Yoga?

YB: This is the only country, which will learn it, other will only mock about it. When I came about four years ago, people were so much against it and today this is the maximum people want to learn it.

Purushotama: Does, does a person have to be particularly or endowed with strength to sustain the Kundalini practice?

YB: Everybody has his infinite potential. It is not that, people may misunderstand me, today on this things. Because I am a basically Hatha Yogi and I can do all the hundred and eight postures. I have quite a body trained for that for years. I have trained also Hatha Yogi. Means, I am basically what I am trying to convince is, I have done all the twenty-two channels of yoga and I have enjoyed it. But you know, in Hatha Yoga for a posture perfection you take twelve years; in Raj Yoga for meditation on your psychic center you take six years; in Mantra Yoga, then you take three years and then Laya Yoga, that mantra, which we have perfected must be tuned in into the realm of the sound, takes two years and then you come to a Kalimaan or a master of Kundalini Yoga. And then he will give you a training for ninety days. So, why not to basically start with certain fundamentals.

It's not possible to put those all twenty-two years of the major life to learn that way. That's why, a system was organized that's what a Kundalini Yoga is. It is a, it's a, it's a, it is a, it is a situation, which, when you can just cut down the realms of time, that's all.

Purushotama: How, how long does it, does it take for someone to become established in Kundalini Yoga, introduced through your (?)?

YB: Well it is, it is so, with some people it can be just a slip on the floor and they feel, they have gone and seen the Infinity. Some people, some right time it happens to them, just because their previous incarnation they were ready for it. Some people just do it in very small days, some take lot times, some have just spent four years and they have just not progressed two inches.

So, (?) you are not encouraging your disciples just to, just to sit around and in caves experiencing Kundalini.

So basically, we give that technique, so that people can just cut down that and get up in the morning, have shower, do the meditation, get ready to face the whole day and whole world. And they do it, they do it very fine job. And then we love to earn with the sweat of our brow that is the highest dignity of the man. No, no laying your number on welfares and no buying food stamps, just art of giving. Give, that is the, that is the action of God. God gives, man takes all the time.

Purushotama: The first time I met you, Yogi Ji, was at I was having dinner with some mutual friends and I, you asked me at the end of the evening, (?), "What are you seeking, just give it to me in one little word."

Purushotama：Yogi Ji，我第一次见到你，是在我和几个共同的朋友一起吃晚饭的时候，那天晚上快结束时你问我，（？），「你在追寻什么，就用一个小词告诉我。」

And I said, I said, "Bliss."

You smiled and you said, "Get it in serving people."

And I have always remembered that, that was a very (?).

YB: Well, you are right. Basically, you must understand, now I see your aura right and I see your destiny, it's already written, that's the way you have been produced. Not only you will, you have not yet started serving people, you'll serve the whole world one day. I mean, I am not making a prophecy, but this is how it is written in your destiny. Your voice will reach from one corner to the other corner of the world. I don't know how it's going to happen, but that's what the destiny is. But however you may try to change it. I mean to say if you try to tomorrow open a boutique shop, you can't do that.

YB：嗯，你说得对。基本上，你必须明白，现在我看你的能量圈，看你的天命，它早就写好了，你就是这样被造出来的。不只是你会，你还没开始服务他人，有一天你会服务整个世界。我的意思是，我不是在预言，而是你的天命里就是这么写的。你的声音会从世界的一个角落传到另一个角落。我不知道这会怎么发生，但天命就是这样。不管你怎么想改它。我的意思是说，如果你明天想开一家精品店，你做不到。

So, there are certain channels, people are channels. So, what I mean to say is, serving people, working practically, living happy, shining, peaceful, contentment, is the highest gesture. Because if you not know the God, God is Unknown, His creation is known. So the artist can be known through art. So, knowing the realms of the creation is to know the Creator. And the knowing the realm of the creation is only to know through service. And that is already written before your birth on your very forehead when you came out. Stamped they call it, eight cent stamped letter will go all over in United State America.

Purushotama: Ah, you, you say that you are, you are, you are teaching teachers, that's the way you, that's the way you often put it otherwise (?) simply disciples.

YB: You know my, my idea... No, no, I don't want to get into the jazz, disciples. What is a disciple? Who's a disciple of whom? God created the creature, God created me. And look what a beauty it is, sometime I say, 'what a humble man and little man I am and God has made a yogi out of me,' I mean to say it is His pleasure, I mean, it's, it's not something. When the lowest of a low and the meanest of the mean is raised to the highest realm, to be respected and revered by the people, that is we call the mantra, Sat Nam Wahe Guru. Wa, what a beautiful it is, that he's a light of the God. It's not the individual important.

So, you know, some people, some kind people, some great people, some sages, some saints, shared this knowledge with me out of compassion. They made me a master. Why should not I make others as masters? Why should I run around and give them run arounds and you know. What for? Who am I? I got it, I have it, I share with it and I share with others as it came to me, so, I give.

所以，你知道，有些人，一些善良的人，一些伟大的人，一些见者，一些圣徒，出于慈悲把这份知识分享给了我。他们把我造就成了一位大师。我为什么不该把别人也造就成大师？我为什么要到处跑，给他们绕圈子，你知道的。为了什么？我是谁？我得到了它，我拥有它，我分享它，我把它分享给别人，就像它来到我这儿一样，所以，我给出去。

Purushotama: So, so your friends, you can call them or your or your nieces and nephews, whatever you want to call.

YB: We call them a family in which you know, where there's a father-daughter relationship. Well, let anybody think me anything, some people think I am a nut, I don't care, you know.

Purushotama: But they all, will these will be qualified teachers?

YB: They are qualified teachers, not will be, they are qualified teachers, they are serving people. We learn and we teach, we teach and we learn. I mean to say, if in this hand we take, that hand we give, we don't keep anything. So, the continuous flow is there. We have no time realm, we have to live above time, above clouds and the sunshine. It's very difficult sometime to even think on it, but if you practically think and this is the only way. There is only one way and that is the way of righteousness.

YB：他们是合格的老师，不是将会是，他们是合格的老师，他们在服务人们。我们学习，我们也教；我们教，我们也学。我是说，如果这只手拿进来，那只手就给出去，我们什么都不留。所以，那持续的流动就在那里。我们没有时间的领域，我们必须活在时间之上，活在云层和阳光之上。有时候连想一想都很难，但如果你实际地去想，这是唯一的路。只有一条路，那就是正法（Dharma）之路。

Purushotama: Will you be living in this country for permanently or can you (?).

Purushotama：你会永久住在这个国家，还是你能（？）。

YB: I am, I am a resident of this country, because I don't want to do my number and runaway. I want to do my number here and face the, face the gallows, if I have to face it here. Because once you eat from the soil, you have to serve the soil. I don't want a hit and run business is not my business.

YB：我是，我是这个国家的居民，因为我不想做完我的功课就逃跑。我要在这里做完我的功课，面对，面对绞刑架，如果我必须在这里面对的话。因为你一旦吃了这片土地的粮食，你就必须服务这片土地。我不想要那种打了就跑的生意，那不是我的生意。

Purushotama: So, so, you are a, you are a permanent part of the American scene?

And you know, if I am here, I am here for that purpose, I am not here for just becoming a rich American, I don't care. I am rich anyway, because I have home in all the ninety-six cities, because I have no home of mine, so.

Purushotama: So, you are, you are an American and this is, this Americans have, have, have never, the only native Americans are, are, are the...

YB: Are the real; everybody is a melting American.

Purushotama: Yes.

I said, "Well, I'll give you a life, which will be healthy, happy and holy."

That's why we call it 3HO mantra. It is also self-healing mantra, 'healthy am I, happy am I, holy am I,' if you meditate on this mantra, your all diseases get cured by the will of God. It's the highest mantra. So, we chant that.

And then I said, "I'll give such teachers to America that those American yogis will teach the American yogis how to do yoga and I'll live by my words, because I worship the word."

Purushotama: Do, do any, any new styles and techniques come to life in a better, specifically American or (?) all the things that you teach, things that you that you learned originally in India? In other words (?) is, is the America having some influence on the yoga, on the...

YB: Ah, yeah. America is attracting lot of people in the field of yoga. And we are also getting faster to let the American yogis become the yogis. And that's why, what we are doing is, we are Americanizing the yoga. Yoga is the knowledge, it's not India, America or Japan or Tibet; it can be America. And one day I think, the main tourist traffic to America will be to come and learn yoga.

YB：啊，是的。美国在瑜伽领域吸引着很多人。我们也在更快地让美国瑜伽士成为瑜伽士。这就是为什么，我们在做的是，我们正在把瑜伽美国化。瑜伽是知识，它不是印度、美国、日本或西藏；它可以是美国。我想有一天，来美国的主要游客流量，将是来学瑜伽的。

Because one thing is, in this country, people are very powerful and they are very honest seekers. But you can't sell them for a long time something, which is not real. They have that power of discrimination and that is, that is most valuable. You can promise them, you can just, you know, give them a little situation where that you can blind them for a while, I call it. They are very, very, very wise people. They know where the real thing is and who is the real.

因为有一点是，在这个国家，人们非常强大，他们是非常诚实的求道者。但你没法长久地卖给他们不真实的东西。他们拥有那种辨别力，那是，那是最宝贵的。你可以向他们许诺，你可以，你知道，给他们制造一点情境，让你暂时蒙蔽他们，我这么称呼它。他们是非常、非常、非常有智慧的人。他们知道真实的东西在哪里，谁是真正的。

So, this power of discrimination, this urge to seek, is the basis, on which one day you will find American will triumph over all the difficulties, in the sense, northern American I am saying.

Purushotama: Do you, do you think there's any chance in, in bringing together the, the various people who are interested in this, in the spiritual practice in United States?

YB: Yeah, I am trying to do it all the four years. I am always saying that, you know, health and, Yoga and Health, London magazine has printed a very powerful article, which they interviewed me. 'Who are the dangerous yogi,' that is the heading they gave.

So, I think, we are putting the word out and we are going to bluntly and openly and strongly going to do it. And the words are out, the kids are going to learn it and they are going to question all these people, who are teaching, that, 'you can't learn from somebody, you can't do the thing, my thing is the best thing, other things are wrong.' This, these are, these are very, very old hypocrisies, which we all know about it. I don't think it is going to work for a long time.

所以，我想，我们正在把这个话传出去，我们要直截了当、公开而有力地去做。话已经放出去了，孩子们会学到它，他们会去质问所有这些人，那些在教「你不能跟别人学，你不能做那件事，我的东西是最好的，别的东西都是错的」的人。这些，这些是非常、非常古老的虚伪，我们大家都知道。我不认为它能长久行得通。

And finally, either they have to take the towline and come all the way to be real yogi and be united and unite all the people and come together and do it or they will lose the market, they'll be unwanted, they have to quit. And that's mainly downfall of all these people will come ultimately, there's no problem, because nature is working faster than their own little egos. So, I am a hopeful man, I mean to say I feel nature will do what is right. But our little job is to spread this word all over.

到最后，要么他们得接过拖绳，一路走过来，成为真正的瑜伽士，联合起来，把所有人团结起来，走到一起去做，要么他们就会失去市场，他们会变得不受欢迎，他们就得退出。而这主要就是所有这些人最终会迎来的垮台，没问题，因为大自然运转得比他们那点小我快得多。所以，我是个充满希望的人，我的意思是说，我觉得大自然会做正确的事。但我们的小任务就是把这个话传遍各处。

Purushotama: Do you, do you feel yourself deepening in the Nam or do you, do you, have you, have you, have you reached a plateau?

Purushotama：你，你觉得自己在 Nam 里越来越深入，还是你，你，你已经，你已经，你已经到了一个平台期？

YB: Well, as far as my personal level is concerned, let me word it this way, 'it is thy will O Lord, as you keep me into the dense of the mud or on the top of the lotus, all is thy pleasure, what this little creature even can realize.'

YB：嗯，就我个人的层面来说，让我这么说吧，「这是你的意志，哦主啊，无论你把我放进泥沼深处，还是放在莲花顶上，一切都是你的喜悦，这个小生命又能领悟什么呢。」

I know the language of words, so, in words I don't get caught normally.

You know, once I met a very great man and he said, "To what depth of the depth, you have found the depth?"

That was his question.

And I looked at him and I smiled, I said, "To what humility the humble can realize his own humbleness."

So, we both smiled and that smile was more divine than Divinity in word means, that way.

Purushotama: You said that being a spiritual master particularly in the United States is a kind of a crucifying consciousness, that's how you put it.

Purushotama：你说过，做一位灵性老师，尤其是在美国，是一种被钉上十字架的意识，你是这么说的。

YB: Yeah.

YB：是的。

Purushotama: And when the people, the people suspect you being on, on a power trip or (?).

Purushotama：而当人们，人们怀疑你在，在追求权力或者（？）。

YB: No, no, no, people don't suspect me, but they have got very, very sad experiences with many stuff, you know. And you know, when, when they have got already a hard experience, they put you on hot plate too. I mean to say, it's not easy, you know, it's not easy to get around well, because, they say, 'well, he may be a phony because so and so was.'

YB：不，不，不，人们不是怀疑我，但他们跟很多东西有过非常、非常惨痛的经历，你知道。而且你知道，当他们已经有过惨痛的经历，他们也会把你放到热锅上。我的意思是说，这不容易，你知道，要好好相处不容易，因为他们会说，「嗯，他可能是个骗子，因为某某人就是。」

So, you hear it, right on your very face. I mean to say they put the mud right on your face, what you can do. So you, you clean the Karma of others, that's why sometime I am called a garbage cleaner. You know, you got to stick around and you got to be honest and you got to continue and you got to also know that their feelings might be right. Why, why, what right I have got to question anybody? If somebody got burned he got burnt. Then he has, even he's not burned, he's doubtful, he's practical, he just doesn't want to relate to those situation, he want to say, 'well, you are not right.'

所以，你听到它，就当着你的面。我的意思是说，他们把泥直接抹到你脸上，你能怎么办。所以你，你在清理别人的业力，这就是为什么有时候我被称为垃圾清理工。你知道，你得待在那儿，你得诚实，你得继续下去，你也得知道，他们的感受可能是对的。为什么，我凭什么有权去质疑任何人？如果有人被烧过，他就是被烧过。然后他，即使他没被烧过，他也怀疑，他很实际，他就是不想跟那种情况扯上关系，他想说，「嗯，你不对。」

Purushotama: They call you a garbage cleaner, one of the garbage, some of the garbage that's in the society is, in the form of chemicals, that, that people (?) to get higher (?).

Purushotama：他们叫你垃圾清理工，其中一种垃圾，社会里的一些垃圾，是以化学品的形态出现的，那，那人们（？）去获得更高的（？）。

YB: Yeah, human ecology, human ecology.

YB：是的，人类生态，人类生态。

Purushotama: You know, what, what, what about the kind of chemical garbage?

Purushotama：你知道，那，那，那这种化学垃圾是怎么回事？

YB: Just putting a chemicals in your system and I always know, those who wants to stimulate themself from outside, will never know what is inside stimulation. Because they don't, don't do, don't go together. So, if you want to reach the consciousness of higher stimulation, then you got to stimulate it from with inside and then you don't require all these drugs. That's why we have a very powerful system, through which even anybody who's hooked on heroin and all those kind of situations, will not suffer the return back or what they call it, cold turkey or (?).

YB：只是往你的身体系统里塞化学药品，而我始终知道，那些想从外面刺激自己的人，永远不会知道什么是内在的刺激。因为他们不，不去做，不往内走。所以，如果你想达到更高刺激的意识，你就得从内在去刺激它，那样你就不需要这些毒品了。这就是为什么我们有一套非常强大的系统，通过它，即便是任何染上海洛因之类的人，也不会在回头时受苦，或者他们所谓的，冷火鸡戒断，或者（？）。

Purushotama: Yeah, my, my, my friends, who, who are your, who are your friends or your, your followers, they have lived with ex-heroin addicts in their, in their own house and, and worked with them and, and it's a, it's a one of the powerful things that your people are doing. (?).

Purushotama：是啊，我，我，我的朋友们，他们，他们是你的人，是你的朋友还是你的，你的追随者，他们和曾经的海洛因成瘾者一起住在他们，他们自己的家里，和，和他们一起工作，这是，这是你的人们在做的一件很有力量的事。（？）。

YB: Well, our, our motto is, 'let us build a drug free nation,' help the, help the 3HO foundation, that's what we call it. I mean to say, that is what the slogan we give out, 'let us build a drug free nation.' Because we don't believe that drugs are in anyway will be helpful (?).

Purushotama: Don't, don't you think that people, young people who have a longing for yoga, have, have taken, have drugs in all sincerity?

YB: Yeah, they, they were misguided by certain people and they thought this is the way and also they were not misguided to that extent. What I feel is, that at that time there was a lack of communication between the parents and the kids. And the social structure of the home, the coziness of the home and the warmth of the home was totally cold and dead. So, it is very difficult psychologically and for social reason to break the ties with parents and the house you live in and the streets you have raised up and the city you are in. And they wanted something powerful to disconnect this, so they stoned their brains, stoned their brains and they became junkies, not to give any attachment to values of that established pattern of things. So, they took help of those drugs, otherwise not.

Purushotama: But, is it, is it possible that some, some people are taking Kundalini Yoga as a, as a, as a method for breaking the ties with the, with the culture they no longer believe in?

Purushotama：但是，有，有没有可能，有些，有些人把昆达里尼瑜伽当作一种，一种，一种方法，用来切断与那个他们不再相信的文化的联系？

YB: No, no, no, no, well rather we are responsible for bringing them into the right righteous living. I mean to say, it is not culture belief, it's a question of you believe in the society or not, then you have to become a part of the society and play your honest role. And this is one of the requirements, people who practice this Kundalini Yoga they have to earn their own money, in the right consciousness. When you earn something in right consciousness, you got to go out in the market and do the job. And when you do the job, you got to relate to the society around you. So, you have to be extra beautiful, extra polite, extra attractive, extra communicative, extra smiling, all those extras, x plus has to be added to you. And when you are willing to do that, naturally you become a very important part of the society.

Purushotama: So, so, you are an American who's trying to reclaim other Americans for America?

YB: Well, that's what we don't say, let us build a beautiful America and built it in the beautiful way, don't play underhand means, just go straight and do it in the honest, honest, truthful way. Because when you are living on a soil, serve the soil. The basic principle of service cannot be ignored. And that is what we are in our depth we want to be. I mean to say why not we should claim as good, honest Americans, why not we should be just, why should we be funky Americans, what is the big deal about that? And then if we are good Americans, then we can serve our all brothers in the whole world.

YB: They, they, well, they also have intoxication, you know, cutty, shark, six dollar ninety-five cent. They have to spend some money to do that jazz. I mean, nobody is free from Nam. Intoxication of life is the principle.

Guru Nanak said one beautiful verse.

'Posath, bhang, apheem, madh utar jaye prabhat, Nam khumari Nanaka chadi rahe dinn raat.'

Posat-poppy; bhang-marijuana; apheem-opium; madh-wine or whisky whatever you want to call it.

'Utar jaye prabhat.'

If you have a night a party, in the morning you will hang up or hangover and whatever you call it and it will go away and it will make you miserable.

如果你夜里开派对，早上你就会难受，或者宿醉，随你怎么叫，它会过去，它会让你痛苦不堪。

'Nam khumari Nanaka chadi rahe dinn raat.'

「Nam khumari Nanaka chadi rahe dinn raat。」

The power of the Nam shall continue to intoxicate you day and night. I mean to say, in other words you can live in the realms of the highest consciousness, consciously relating to the conscious world.

Purushotama: Is the Nam going on all the time, in, in, in the hearts of people?

YB: Yeah, yeah, this practice, this practice (?) and the whole nature sends you the sound. I mean to say, you, it is not that your consciousness can get off it at anytime. (?).

Purushotama: Tuned in, they would find it already going on.

YB: (?), anyone, including my white cat, when I sing in the morning, at that hour, continuously that white cat comes, sit outside and listen to that sound. And that cat is so tuned on that sound, I can't believe it. I think, it is not dishonest it's a very honest way a man can reach within himself and can, can find those realms, which are his higher consciousness.

Purushotama: I remember (?) Guru Nam Singh, before this Guru Nam Singh was telling me that, he used to come and practice the yoga and everything and, and he didn't use to wear a turban, or now and then (?) because he was working in IBM, I think.

Why should, why should I tell anybody I know it, they will do it, whosoever to follow, even you follow it one day, I may come in here, you'll have turban on your head. It's not; you know, when you know, experience the realities of something, then you have to have those tools. These are tools, they are not the end in themself they are the tools.

YB: One who cannot relate to this world and cannot experience this world and cannot live in this world, how can he rise above the world. I mean, you mean, think I should be skinny, with a staff in my hand, with a begging bowl in the other and have a couple, couple spoons of rice in it and should live on it. Those kind of myths and imaginations are not right.

YB：一个人如果无法与这个世界建立关系，无法体验这个世界，无法活在这个世界里，他又怎么能超越这个世界。我是说，你的意思是，觉得我应该瘦骨嶙峋，一手拿杖，另一手拿个乞讨碗，里面装几勺，几勺米饭，就靠它活着。那种神话和想象是不对的。

Purushotama: But your, your people marry and have children?

Purushotama：但你，你的人结婚，还生孩子？

YB: Yeah, we, we are householders and our first, actually Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of householders. It is not, those Hatha and those kind of stuff is for other kind of stuff. This was practically a yoga designed and experienced by people who live in as a householder. Because on householder lives the God, on householder live these people, who call themself, whatever you want to call them, because on whose money they live? These holy men live on the money of the sinners and it's the sinner who redeems them, so that they can eat and then still they said they are the redemption centers.

YB：对，我们，我们是居家者，而且我们的第一，其实昆达里尼瑜伽（Kundalini Yoga）就是居家者的瑜伽。它不是，那些哈他（Hatha）和那类东西是给别的用的。这实际上是一门由居家生活的人设计并体验出来的瑜伽。因为神就住在居家者身上，这些人就住在居家者身上，他们自称什么，你想叫他们什么都行，因为他们靠谁的钱活着？这些圣人靠罪人的钱活着，是罪人在救赎他们，好让他们有饭吃，然后他们还说自己是救赎中心。

YB: Yeah.

Purushotama: But what is, what (?)?

YB: It is a, it is a creative force of the universe, without God. Shiva-Shakti principle is the grace of God, is the woman, is the creative principle.

Purushotama: So, the woman for, for, for you the woman represents something very fundamental.

YB: It represent to me my altar, it represents to me my place of respect, it represent to me my personality, it represents to me my existence, it represents to me through which God shall love me, I have not to love God; it represents to me the totality, the first symbol of universe.

Purushotama: So, (?) there's, there's a kind of, sense of fatherhood of God, there's a, there's the motherhood of the Kundalini.

Purushotama：所以，（？）有一种，有一种父性的神，也有一种，昆达里尼的母性。

YB: Yeah, fatherhood of the God is slave to the motherhood, otherwise he lives a divorced life and he loves in, he, he cooks his own meals and burn his own fingers and get busted all the time.

YB：是啊，神的父性是母性的奴隶，否则他就过着离婚的生活，他爱在，他，他自己做饭，烧到自己的手指，还总是被揍。

Purushotama: So the mother is what's, what's taking care of the universe, the mother.

Purushotama：所以母亲才是那个，那个在照顾宇宙的，母亲。

YB: The mother is universe, universe is mother. Poor father sits like a Shiva in the snow, top of the Himalayas, does nothing. That's why they call him, 'Bum, Bum, Bolenath.' You know these bums.

YB：母亲就是宇宙，宇宙就是母亲。可怜的父亲像湿婆一样坐在雪里，坐在喜马拉雅山顶，什么也不做。所以他们才叫他「Bum，Bum，Bolenath」。你知道这些流浪汉。

That's the name of Lord Shiva, the Creator of the Universe, 'Bum, Bum, Bolenath.' Bola mean innocent. He's such an innocent one, he's bum.

Purushotama: So, so, do women among, among the Kundalini yoginis, are, are, highly respected members of the family, when they started.

YB: Yeah, they are, they are the pioneers of the family. Because they will give the family of tomorrow, they are the creative principle of God consciousness. That's why we call them they are the grace of God. Man can only have a salvation by relating to the creative principle and that's the woman. I mean to say logically, reasonably and practically we are very true.

YB：是的，她们是，她们是家庭的先驱。因为她们会给出明天的家庭，她们是神意识的创造原则。所以我们才说她们是神的优雅。男人只有与创造原则相连才能获得救赎，而那就是女人。我是说，从逻辑上、理性上、实际上，我们都非常真实。

Purushotama: Do you, do you see the divine in, in women, as you, as you, as you (?)?

Purushotama：你，你在女人身上看到神性吗，就像你，就像你，就像你（？）？

YB: Minus divine there is no woman, she's a challenge to man ego, all the time. When the lustful man drops down from the realm of consciousness of a higher self, then he goes into a, what you call is, animal consciousness and then he destroys woman and thus he destroys his own future, his own dignity, his own destiny.

YB：除去神性就没有女人，她时时刻刻都是对男人小我的挑战。当充满色欲的男人从更高自我的意识领域掉下来，他就进入一种，你们所说的，动物意识，然后他摧毁女人，于是他也摧毁了自己的未来、自己的尊严、自己的命运。

Purushotama: Do you think the women's liberation movement is a manifestation of the Adi Shakti or do you think that's a (?).

Purushotama：你认为妇女解放运动是 Aad Shakti 的显现，还是你认为那是一种（？）。

YB: No, it is a, it is a, it is a conspiracy of the man. It's a very deep-rooted conspiracy of the man. Men wanted them to be just the, you must understand what is the main features of the women. Woman can give a new man a new life, a new inspiration, which is the greatest, powerful, beautiful role of a woman. And what they are telling the woman is, 'you are low, you have to come all the way equal to us.' Whereas she is always high, she is never low, she can never be low.

YB：不，它是，它是，它是男人的阴谋。它是男人一个根深蒂固的阴谋。男人想让她们只是那个，你必须明白女人的主要特征是什么。女人能给出一个新的男人、新的生命、新的灵感，这是女人最伟大、最强大、最美丽的角色。而他们告诉女人的是，「你很低，你得一路爬上来跟我们平等。」可她永远是高的，她从不低，她永远不可能低。

You might be remembering that story, that out of the rib of the man, the woman was created by God and she created sin. But all these men today are created out of the womb of the woman. So, how can, how can, when you are born out of something, how an apple can talk about the tree on which it is hanging? Woman can understand, make everybody to realize her grace and grace of God and how powerful she is and how divine she is and then everything in this world will run around the woman. She is not a slave to anything.

你可能还记得那个故事，说神用男人的肋骨造出了女人，而女人造出了罪。可今天所有的男人都是从女人的子宫里生出来的。那么，怎么可能，怎么可能，当你从某样东西里生出来，一个苹果怎么能谈论那棵挂着它的树？女人能够理解，能够让每个人都认识到她的优雅和神的优雅，认识到她多么有力量、多么神圣，然后这世上的一切都会围着女人转。她不是任何东西的奴隶。

Purushotama: So, the, the Kundalini Yoga is really making a call to American women to, to...

YB: Rise, rise, time is now and create the future now, so that you can rise above the time. Well, you know, through the time she was very kind and very giving and she didn't care and the man took advantage of it. And now, now what? In other five-six years they will be all right.

YB: Love is God, love is sacrifice, when you are in love, you can only sacrifice. Love is a experience of selflessness within oneself. It is experience, it, it can't be talked out. When you can't sacrifice, you are not in love. Because giving is the law of life and sacrifice is the power behind giving and sacrifice is love, God is love, love is God.

YB：爱就是神，爱就是牺牲，当你处在爱里，你只能牺牲。爱是在自己之内体验无我。它是体验，它，它没法说出来。当你不能牺牲，你就不在爱里。因为给予是生命的法则，而牺牲是给予背后的力量，牺牲就是爱，神就是爱，爱就是神。

Purushotama: (?) took on you know, (?) how did you enter this family? Well, I was (?) on a drug, hey, Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam.

So, how did you get into this family?

Student: Well, I was interested in yoga before I came into this family and well I was doing the yoga, while I was taking drugs as well. And then when I started doing this Kundalini Yoga, I found they supplied a lot of the answers that I was looking for. And it just gave me a substitute, something that I could really get involved with. That was in England about two years ago with Vikram Singh. And basically I stayed with the ashram, living outside the ashram for about eight months or so and then moved into the ashram and we changed ashrams, I just stayed with family and then came to the USA, came to New York and I have been living in Brooklyn ashram, about a month.

Purushotama: What do you, what do you think of Yogi Ji?

Purushotama：你觉得，你觉得 Yogi Ji 怎么样？

Student: Yogi Ji is very powerful yogi, he has got very many techniques, he can answer a lot of questions about anything to do with body or anything that you can I mean to say, find out about, he can supply you with an answer to that question.

学生：Yogi Ji 是非常强大的瑜伽士（Yogi），他掌握非常多的技法，任何跟身体有关的问题，或者任何你能想到、能去了解的问题，他都能回答，他能给你那个问题的答案。

Purushotama: Do you think you'll spend the rest of your life in this practice?

Purushotama：你觉得你会用余生来修这个法门吗？

Student: Well, (?) I feel like I am a sort of stick in a river which has been flowing along with the current and I think that even if I wanted to leave right now, (?) much choice in it. You know, I am just been taken along with the current and that's the way things are flowing, you know. So, as I say now, I think, even if I say no, I think (?) probably happen that it will happen that I will stay with it. You know.

学生：嗯，（？）我感觉自己就像河里的一根树枝，一直随着水流漂。我想，就算我现在想离开，（？）也没什么选择余地。你知道，我就这样被水流带着走，事情就是这样流动的，你知道。所以，就像我现在说的，我想，就算我说不，我想（？）大概也会发生，我会继续走下去。你知道。

Purushotama: Does, does it feel good to be in the flow?

Purushotama：处在流动里，感觉好吗？

Student: Sure, very good. Sometimes it's just my ego sort of says that, you know, what's going on, but then I can realize (?) is just a ego. You know, when I think you are related to selflessness, and I can see the reason far better to be on sort of direction towards God. You know, if you get in yourself in the (?), your personality and just flowing with it, right to the sea.

学生：当然，非常好。有时候只是我的小我在说，你知道，这是怎么回事，但接着我能意识到（？）那只是小我。你知道，当我觉得你与无私相关，我就能更清楚地看到理由，朝着神的方向走要好得多。你知道，如果你把自己放进（？）里，你的人格，就随着它流动，一直流向大海。

Student1: We had a (?) name with a bunch of people and we are trying to live together, we are doing a little yoga, it didn't really work out. And we split up and I left looking around for a teacher, you know and experienced a few teachers until finally one day I was talking to somebody and they told me about this teacher, who is a real nut, you know and a real powerful kind of yoga he was doing, so, you know, I was naturally interested. So, I went over to see what he was doing and did some yoga and I got so worked out, I just started doing it, because it's got me higher than drugs, you know, so, that's how I got into it. You know, negativity and my own self, you know, gets worked out a lot. A lot of stuff gets released out of myself consciously, when I meditate with yogi and I feel very peaceful.

Purushotama: What's it like having your little child here, with you? What's it like, what's it like having a child and, and practicing yoga?

Student1: It's really beautiful having a child. She teaches me a lot of things, you know. If I don't get up and do my Sadhana, she gets cranky all day long. And I don't know, I learn how to be relaxed you know, behind what she's doing. You know, because it's a real test, you know. Because a child gets at your ego, they know exactly where, where your ego is, they know exactly where your hang-ups are, you know, even from very young. And you know, like even a little young baby like this, she knows, she'll start crying and she knows that I can immediately say, 'is she sick,' or you know, this or that a freak out or I can just be really cool and flow with it and then, then she'll start doing whatever she's doing (?).

Purushotama: Do you, do you get help from your friends in the ashram?

Student1: Oh yeah, oh yeah. That's, that's what an ashram is all about, you know, (?), we help each other out, raise our consciousness together.

Student: I used to play in a Rock n Roll band and was in pretty heavy in the drug scene for few years. And a, a friend turned me on to him. And the first class I went to, I'll never forget the first exercise I, we had to hold our legs at sixty degrees in the air for three minutes and that was like, it's, it's been ever since then.

So the experience were just so far out even after that first class and however our life changed right there and is a gradual, like inside I changed immediately, but the external appearances of things took a few months to workout. And I, I moved into the ashram, after several months I am, and it just became a very beautiful experience, like I am (?). You know, just started devoting my whole life to doing what I was doing, doing the yoga.

Purushotama: Do you think of, of Yogi Ji as your father?

Student: I look at him as my spiritual father, you know. I am going to help my own parents, which I am related to, so I can't substitute him there. But you know, he's my, he's my spiritual father and everything. He's awakened in me all the spirituality, you know, that I have. You know, I got a certain place on drugs, and then he showed me beyond that what the potential was within myself. I had to realize that and, and hold it in consciousness at all times.

(?) you take drugs, you take (?), you get high and then you come back down again, but he told me how to, not just be psychedelic high, you know, not to see stars all the time and be spaced out but to keep a higher consciousness and still maintain yourself on the earth level. That'll be practically oriented and doing, have to do on the earth, run your business, do all that stuff, keep your marriage scene together and keep your family together, at the same time maintaining a higher consciousness.

And he taught me that meditation doesn't mean going and sitting in a cave and spacing out. But it means the attitude (?) in your life is, the attitude that you live your life, the, the, the way you think when you, when you talk to people, how your, your attitude is and the way that you live. And the Samadhi isn't when you are totally gone out of your body and in a trance, but Samadhi is when your attitude is confirmed behavior, so that all the time you are infallible in your behavior that you have always tuned in. That's the, it's such a beautiful, practical thing, it's a, the whole way, the whole way of life is practically oriented, it's to bring spirituality onto the earth plain and workout our Karmas where they have to be worked out.

他还教我，冥想并不意味着跑去坐在山洞里神游。它意味着你生活中的态度（？），你过生活的态度，你，你，你思考的方式，当你，当你跟人说话时，你的，你的态度是怎样的，以及你生活的方式。而三摩地不是当你完全离开身体、进入恍惚状态的时候，三摩地是当你的态度成为确定的行为，这样你时时刻刻在行为上都无懈可击，因为你始终调着频。这就是，它是如此美好、如此务实的一件事，它是，整条路，整条生活方式都是务实的，它是要把灵性带到大地层面，把我们的业力在必须了结的地方了结掉。

Purushotama: Is it, is it, is it, is it fun, do you, do you, do you laugh living your life or is it, there is that pretty, pretty serious?

Purushotama：那，那，那，那有趣吗，你，你，你过你的生活时会笑吗，还是说，那相当，相当严肃？

Student: No, it's all fun, everything is a fun. It's all good you know, when you, your attitude gets a little bit together and you, you realize in your whole consciousness that there is a God, that there is a energy that prevails through everything at anytime and it's in a rock, it's in a, it's in your breath, it's in everything that's around you, it's always there. And it's like there's somebody who has a master plan all the time. And so these little changes come and they, these things happen to you, accidents happen to you, bad times come, good times come. So, you can remember, every time a bad time comes, there's, you know, there's still a Creator and He's prevailing through you at all times, as long as you are breathing. You know, He's giving you that breath and just the awareness of that breath was enough to tune you in and make you go with those bad times and take it easy. In the good times, you always remember that there are bad times too and you always keep a balance that way.

Student1: I was into Hatha yoga and meditation for a few years before I went into Kundalini Yoga. And I always loved doing Hatha Yoga and meditation. And friends of ours turned us onto Kundalini Yoga and it just seemed to be a very positive way of, of getting, of doing yoga. And, and it was just, it was so beautiful being with, living with lot people, that whole idea really turned me on, just living in an ashram with people and eating good food and, and doing yoga with them and chanting. And, and the music too, there's so much music in, in, in 3HO, which is so, you know, so beautiful.

Purushotama: How do you relate to, to the fact that the Kundalini is a feminine force? Do you, do you feel and you are Adi Shakti, do you feel that you are the, at the basis of the universe, do you feel something is special from that?

Purushotama：你怎么看待昆达里尼是一种女性能量这件事？你，你感觉自己就是 Aad Shakti 吗，你感觉自己处在宇宙的根基处吗，你感觉从中有某种特别的东西吗？

Student1: Oh yes, it really reinforces my whole concept of myself, it really help and this is really helping me to feel, you know, my true self, my true identity with the female force.

Purushotama: Do you think the men in the ashram, do you feel some sort of deeper respect coming from them because they, because they worship Kundalini as a, as a feminine Goddess?

Student1: Oh yes, I have, I have never met in my whole life, men who have been so beautiful and kind and respectful and so nice and brotherly. They are just really good. And it's definitely an Aquarian thing, it's definitely, it's going to really pull in a lot of people in the future. And it's really now and it's, it's a very happening thing.

Purushotama: How about you? What happened to you?

Student (laughs): Yeah, that's what my parents keep asking me too. Well, I was going to school (?) and they started Kundalini yoga classes and I just started going. And at first, I really didn't know why I was going. There was something in me that was saying, 'you have to go.' And sometimes, I didn't even want to go and I just had to, I had to keep going to classes and then when I met Yogi Ji, I understood why I had to go. And everything really came together at that point.

学生（笑）：是啊，我父母也一直这么问我。嗯，我当时在上学（？），他们开始办昆达里尼瑜伽课，我就开始去上了。一开始，我真的不知道自己为什么要去。我内在有个东西在说：「你必须去。」有时候，我甚至不想去，可我就是得去，我得一直去上课，后来当我遇到 Yogi Ji，我就明白自己为什么必须去了。一切在那一刻真的都串起来了。

Purushotama: But when you met him, what, what, precisely was it about that made you feel that divine necessity?

Student: He put me through the heaviest changes in ten days, that, he put me through more changes in ten days than I had gone through in twenty years, up to that point. And he just, he just sucked out all negativity that was in me and made me realize, who I was, made me work on myself, till I got to a point where I was able to see the parents in my life, I was able to see the foes and I was able to understand the cause and effect and see who I was and where I was going.

Purushotama: Do you have any brothers or sisters in your family that are interested in this? Do you, do you find it's hard to interest other people or, or aren't you interested in interesting other people?

Purushotama：你家里有没有兄弟姐妹对这个感兴趣？你，你觉得让别人感兴趣很难吗，还是，还是你并不想去让别人感兴趣？

Student: That was one, one of the hardest lessons that I had to learn when I became a teacher, was that this always felt so right for me, right from the beginning, I just knew, well, this is it, well, this is, this is what I have been looking for. And it took me a long time to, to realize that, maybe it wasn't what everyone else is looking for you know and there on everyone has their own path. And an important thing that all spiritual groups now have to learn is tolerance. The important thing that all of us have to learn is tolerance. And it's the role of a teacher is, just to be available and to allow the students to find him and the students will find him, if he has something to offer and someone needs that, that person will find him. And he shouldn't, he shouldn't run after the students, he should just be available and be humble and be willing to serve.

Purushotama: Do you feel strange being a full-fledged yoga teacher or, or, or, or do you, do you think that you (?) further to go to become qualified?

Student: Well, I don't think of myself as a teacher. Because whenever I think of myself as a teacher, everything falls apart. And I just understand, you know, it's like, look at us, here we have been doing yoga for two-three years, you know, who are we to teach yoga, who are we to teach consciousness, when we are not in that consciousness. So, that's another lesson in humility. And, and before, before we teach a class, we chant a certain mantra, which reminds us that we are not teaching and that teachings are flowing through us and that the same way the teaching flow through Yogi Ji to us, the teachings are flowing through us to other people and...

学生：嗯，我不把自己当成老师。因为每当我把自己当成老师，一切就都散掉了。我只是明白，你知道，就像，看看我们，我们练瑜伽才两三年，你知道，我们凭什么教瑜伽，我们凭什么教意识，当我们自己都不在那个意识里。所以，这是关于谦卑的又一课。而且，而且在我们教课之前，我们会唱诵某个曼陀罗，它提醒我们，我们不是在教，教导是流经我们的，就像教导从 Yogi Ji 流经到我们这里一样，教导也从我们这里流经到别人那里，而且……

Purushotama: What's that mantra? Can you chant it for us and give, give the meaning?

'Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo.'

「Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo。」

It means, Ong is a creative force of the universe, Namo means I salute you, I bow to you and Guru Dev is that divine teacher, which was in every person and it's to remind the teacher that actually, the student is teaching himself in the process of the Kundalini yoga class is to awaken the teacher within the student. So that, that, that teacher, which is one, which was in everyone, can teach that person. It's not the teacher that's teaching, it's higher consciousness within the student that's teaching him.

And, when you, when you tune into that teacher, you find he's teaching you all the time, not just when you are in a yoga class. And that, this whole life and this whole earth is just a school and that it's a, the physical manifestation, since it happened to you or the way that his teacher teaches you, what you need to learn.

而且，当你，当你调频到那位老师，你会发现他一直在教你，不只是你在瑜伽课上的时候。这整个生命、整个地球就是一所学校，它是，那个物质层面的显现，既然它发生在你身上，或者他的老师教你的方式，就是你需要学的东西。

Everything, everything is a teacher. A tree is a teacher, a tree teaches you to stand firm and calm through the ages. A cloud teaches you how to flow through the scene unattached. A bird teaches you how to get up before the sun and chant.

一切，一切都是老师。一棵树是老师，一棵树教你历经岁月而坚定、平静地站立。一朵云教你如何不执着地流过整个场景。一只鸟教你如何在太阳升起之前起床唱诵。

Purushotama: Do you hear that Nam, all the time going on inside you?

Purushotama：你听到那个 Nam 了吗，一直在你里面进行着？

Student: You better say yes.

Student: No, I, I don't hear the Nam going on all the time, although that's just the things, way things sound, you know, become more beautiful as your attitude becomes confirmed. And the sound current, which is the Nam, is there all the time and the first stage of consciousness in tuning into the Nam is, whether you can consciously tune into it, when you set yourself to tune into it, you can tune into it and we can hear it.

Student: Well, the process of chanting is a way of tuning yourself to vibrate, so that the Nam can come in your consciousness more clearly. And when you chant the vibrations of Sat Nam, that Sa sound and that Aa sound is the sound of the Nam, the sound current, which is always flowing it's that infinite vibration, which is always going.

Purushotama: After you chant, how long does, how long does it vibrate with you, before, before you go back to ordinary consciousness?

Student: Well, it's all ordinary consciousness, it's just the sound is always there and from chanting the mantra in the morning, that mantra is in your consciousness all day long. It's like we chant, 'Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru,' in the morning and you kind of go through the day and everything is chanting along, you know, 'Ek Ong Kar,' walk down the street, 'Sat Nam,' step off the kerb, 'Siri Wa' and step up on the other kerb, Guru you know. And it's a continual process, it's not something, which you sit down and do and get up and go do something else, you know.

Purushotama: Do you have any goal in mind for your life?

Student3: To be a totally positive perhaps.

Student3: Well, just not, not a producing any negative effects or negative habits, you know, trying to be in a, a really clear head all the time.

Purushotama: But, lot, there are lot of people who are clear head without practicing yoga or the Nam. What, what was the difference? What difference is there when you do?

Student3: Well, I, I imagine, you know, the path this, you know, many ray, many ways to reach the top of the mountain. You know, there are different paths for every person, you know, the people that are in Kundalini Yoga are just, you know, people, it's in their destiny, you know, it's not choice, you just flow along into it.

Student3：嗯，我，我想，你知道，这条路，你知道，很多道，很多条路都能到达山顶。你知道，每个人都有不同的路，你知道，在昆达里尼瑜伽里的人只是，你知道，这些人，这是他们的天命，你知道，这不是选择，你就是顺着它流动进去。

Purushotama: So, you don't feel like you are something special, because you practice spiritual life?

Student3: Well, that's, that's just an ego trip, I think. If you, you know, I, I went through that myself, you know and then the more I think about it, you know, it's just, this is, you know, this is part of life, you know, it's a, you know, what we do is, what we do, it's a, it's, it's not special, this is not even different, it's just, it's just a regular thing. It's very normal actually. In fact that makes a lot of sense.

Student3：嗯，那，那只是小我在作祟，我想。如果你，你知道，我，我自己也经历过那个，你知道，然后我越想越觉得，你知道，这只是，这是，你知道，这是生命的一部分，你知道，这是，你知道，我们做什么就是做什么，这是，这是，这并不特别，这甚至没什么不同，这只是，只是一件平常的事。其实非常正常。事实上这很说得通。

Student4: And at this time we just started feeling that well, looks like Yogi Bhajan is the one for us. And we kept going to the ashram. And we started thinking that may we get some people of (?) form and (?) the way it turned out is, nobody showed up and looked like we are going to have to spend another winter of complete seclusion. But he said, but he said, not for us. We are going to have to go where the energy is. And so, we just, we heard that Yogi Ji was going to be in Brooklyn, so we just packed up all (?) close down the farm, zoomed into New York, heard the lecture and really got confirmed about the whole thing.
