Somebody once asked me what is in Japji? There are so many scriptures, they tell you the story of thousands years what happened, give you the life of those who lived through that time, their achievements and their defeats. These people were not afraid of their defeats, if they ever get defeated by the karma they understood the dedication of the karma for other people is dharma, there is no difference. Human body is supposed to live and action and reaction is the law of the body.
So when there is the action and reaction, you want to act neutral, but most of the time you can’t, so you go after what you like and don’t go after what you don’t like, but there is a tragedy of space, what you like when you were a child, you will not like when you were young. What you like when you were young you will not like when you are in middle age and when you like in the middle age certain things, you will absolutely hate them in the old age. There is no way out. The cycle is called kaal chakra, the cycle of time moves on. And doesn’t matter how much you know and how much you can achieve you cannot escape kaal chakra.
is called kaal chakra, the cycle of time moves on. And doesn’t matter how much you know and how much you can achieve you cannot escape kaal chakra.
Kaal chakra is the law of life, desh and kaal, place and time, kaal chakra means the cycle of time, must meet to create what is called vidhee. Cause and effect and it is law of the nature that vidhee must work, God can forgive you, I vouch it, but Mother Nature won’t. It’s a very balanced mother. It creates environments and circumstances in which you must pay for your karma. Karma we must do and whatever we do for ourself is a karma, whatever we do for others is a dharma. There is no such thing as dharma prescribed by such and such person or people or God spoke to you from the heavens, it doesn't work that way.
dharma. There is no such thing as dharma prescribed by such and such person or people or God spoke to you from the heavens, it doesn't work that way.
Dharma is when you consciously put yourself together to work for others, for their happiness, for their benefit, for taking away their pain, giving them a life, serving them. It doesn't exclude your wife and your children. It saves others, anybody other than you if you are sweet, kind, compassionate, serviceful is a act of dharma and it will be accounted for, how easy it is. Japji introduces to you, to yourself. Study it, that way. In small little lines, you know, there is a stone in the ranch, which is, I put my memory line on it, it says,
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar yeh be dat teree dataar”
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar yeh be dat teree dataar”
lines, you know, there is a stone in the ranch, which is, I put my memory line on it, it says,
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar yeh be dat teree dataar”
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar yeh be dat teree dataar”
And fortunate part for me is, I went through it, I have seen hunger, which I don’t recommend for anybody. I have seen difficulties, I realize I am a yogi, when I was walking in Toronto, in minus temperature, with a shirt and one pant and shirt was bush shirt, it doesn’t have sleeves and I had news paper tied on my feet, cellulite on it tied with thread and I used to walk. It was the story of a man who didn’t know, how many pair of shoes he has. So I realized I am being seasoned, I was lucky.
My family has not to go through it nor see it, they should not understand it, they have to live their own plight, own lives, they have to reach their own destination, that is destiny, it would have been very shocking if they would have seen me in that state of physical existence. Well, life took a turn, I came to Los Angeles, here that bush shirt was hot, it was totally opposite.
seen me in that state of physical existence. Well, life took a turn, I came to Los Angeles, here that bush shirt was hot, it was totally opposite.
But still, I was here, when I taught my first class in one YMCA, where they expected about four hundred people, you know how many turned up? Me, myself, my tape recorder and my driver. Because the Director put the wrong date and wrong day. I came to know of this because next day, he was over there, cause telling me, there are a lot of people called and they are all coming in, it’s a mistake of YMCA and you got to come and speak, don’t let us down bah-bah-bah.
I said, “Okay I’ll come.”
Lot of people wanted to be initiated, to tie a thread with them and tie a thread with me, I never tie a thread with anything, I told them if you are not in a position to initiate yourself and do not understand God within you, then you do not want to introduce yourself to yourself. And one who doesn't introduce one self to one self, doesn’t matter what he does, God may come in the presence and bless that person. The gate to hell is as open as you can imagine. Because what God gave you, is self. And you do not introduce yourself to yourself.
bless that person. The gate to hell is as open as you can imagine. Because what God gave you, is self. And you do not introduce yourself to yourself.
So how can we forgive them, if you do not know yourself then you will be territorial, you will be jealous, you will be angry, you will make plans and schemes, you will pull people’s legs, you will like to show your power, etc., etc., etc. So it is very essential, that you must introduce to yourself.
So when my time was minus point two hundred thousand, with no love and affection, tons of hatred was rolled over me, threats were (?) and there was no chance, there was no corner, where to hide. There were lobbies, with billions of dollars, working totally and they know only one thing destroy this man. We spent so much money to India to make Christians, he has come here to take Christians. He must not live. Do you understand that?
And I said to myself, all right, tell me, what I said to myself? Guess?

YB: Ketia…
YB:Ketia……
Students: ‘Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar eh be dat teree dataar’
学生们:「Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar eh be dat teree dataar」
YB: This is one way you will never fight with your wife.
(Student's laughter)

YB: This is one way you will never fight with your wife.
(Student's laughter)
You will never fight with your husband, you will never fight with your children. Because you are accepted as a daat, it is His blessing to you and your character. This you are not going to learn sitting at the Lotus Feet of the master. Don’t be mistaken, well, if you want to lose some money, that is all right. Because if you give money to the holy man, he has unlimited hole for it.
(Student's laughter)
He is going to distribute it, he is going to give it to one cause or the other. That is his nature. That is his habit. And law of vacuum is when you give, you create vacuum then you get it. Many times, because law of vacuum is there is no vacuum, understand dharma in a very simple sense, don’t put yourself into this complicated juggleries. You know, what I am saying?
Once somebody came to me and said, “Yogiji, Yogiji, Yogiji…”
Yogiji,Yogiji,Yogiji……”
I said, “What, what, what, I said, what is the matter?”
He said, “Yogiji, great, great.”
I said, “Could you let me know what is great?”
He said, “This morning I was meditating.”
I said, “Yeah?”
matter?”
He said, “Yogiji, great, great.”
I said, “Could you let me know what is great?”
He said, “This morning I was meditating.”
I said, “Yeah?”
“I saw Guru Nanak.”
I said, “What he was doing?”
(Student's laughter)
“He came before me.”
I said, “Then what? Did he say something?”
“Nothing, I just saw him.”
And the Guru of the Aquarian Age was there, lying down, I said, “Look at him, he is right on this paper printed permanently.”
What is the difference between this Nanak and that Nanak? Nanak is Nanak you have not understood yet, Nanak is Nanak. Nanak is you, in you, around you, in your action, in your thought, in your imagination, in your projection. Nanak makes your karma into dharma.
“Where I should learn it?”
I said, “I don’t know. Go to some flea market, see if something is available like that.”
You won’t believe it, he went to flea market.
(Student's laughter)
He bought a book, old nithnem, God knows how old it was.
He said, “I have bought this.”
I said, “God is with you. Now read Japji, where you got this?”
He said, “Flea market.”
(Student's laughter)
I said, “How you went to flea market?”
I said, “God is with you. Now read Japji, where you got this?”
He said, “Flea market.”
(Student's laughter)
I said, “How you went to flea market?”
He said, “Sir, you told me, so I went to flea market and there is a shop for old books, I told him show me and I saw this, bought it.”
There are many, many hidden, precious things, which are lying down to be bought by you. There are many, many hardships, which are standing by to save you. There are many, many treacheries and tortures and tragedies, which are waiting to get you so that you can have a character. You don’t like this, hah? I understand.
You know the funny part was, when I used to go and teach in universities, these I won’t name them but they are well known to you, they are fanatics, they will hire a person, go and abuse him. So when that person will reach in a very humble way, I always knew what is coming, so I’ll politely say why don’t you start early so you can finish fast? He will abuse as much as he could, student around sitting will not like to tolerate, they wanted to kill him.
I said, “No.”
“He is simply verbalizing and cleaning us like a soap. He should not disturb us.”
will not like to tolerate, they wanted to kill him.
I said, “No.”
“He is simply verbalizing and cleaning us like a soap. He should not disturb us.”
I’ll sit calmly and that, that thing, came home, some of people in our sangat got so much to their head, they wanted to be Gods.
I simply told them, I have no objection, but I don’t want to be a God. I want to be in one place, not everywhere. But here you will learn to be everywhere, for everybody, to do anything and everything and your humility is greater than all devotions of this world and you will sweet to serve, your real strength will be tested. And you will find that outside you and inside you, every word of Japji is true, then you can declare anything you want. Blessed God, has blessed you, His hand is guiding you, calm down. Don’t fight with personality, follow the reality.
you can declare anything you want. Blessed God, has blessed you, His hand is guiding you, calm down. Don’t fight with personality, follow the reality.
Well, many were very kind, they calmed down, some didn’t. It was sad day to say goodbye to them, there is nothing you can do. Except your prayer time becomes longer. When I came in, you were doing a prayer, in which Guru Ram Das stands as a guarantor. Now who can afford to have that kind of a heart? What Jagna we can do. What ceremony we can perform, what we can do to please God? But you are doing it and He was there. These are those twenty words, which Guru Arjan gave, so that people became musicians with one breath and they sang. ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ne Sa Ta Na Ma, Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se Sohong’… you were chanting the healing part of it.
“Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ne Sa Ta Na Ma, Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se Sohong”……
I was told, there is a telephone arrangement and I can speak it from there, but something told me, no, they have come, you must go, let us meet, let water, merge with water and become one. There is no need to remain separate.
but something told me, no, they have come, you must go, let us meet, let water, merge with water and become one. There is no need to remain separate.
Clear is your consciousness, self kindness, is your virtue. And you are looking forward to that tranquility and peace which is your wealth, who can match up with you? You may not value yourself, that is a separate issue. But fact is a fact. That is what my folks, Japji is all about. Each sutra is complete and in my whole life, not today, not when I came to America, but in India too. This one life, this one line, was the guiding line for this one life,
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar eh be dat teree dataar”
“Ketia dukh bukh sadh maar eh be dat teree dataar”
Then you can live very happily. Then, there is no conflict left. There is no ego heard. Then you can never become victim of depression. Then you can slide through desh and kaal, that is the highest achievement of human meaning, to slip through time and space. In Japji, you will be surprised, even the thieves have a place.
Asunk chor, isn’t it?….
Asunk chor,
achievement of human meaning, to slip through time and space. In Japji, you will be surprised, even the thieves have a place.
Asunk chor, isn’t it?….
Asunk chor,
They are all counted for. Because Japji, doesn't provide any barrier to any human because this is like a ocean, which has river comes it, it becomes ocean. And it is a solution to the life of peace, tranquility and union of a creature with the Creator. So how you have enjoyed these days?
Student: (….)
YB: Every evening He comes and blesses you with a shower.

Have you enjoyed the course?

Students: Yes, sir.
(Students’ clapping)
Tomorrow, you will finish right?
Students: Yes, sir.
YB: Well, that is all I can say, and if you understand even one sutra of Japji, my eye got stuck with one, that is more than enough. It should become your guiding guide. You should realize, that is what you liked and that is what Nanak said for you. When a wife wants to say bad words to husband, she should figure out does Guru Nanak permits it. Because we are the Sikhs of the Shabad Guru, word is a power to us. Word is a?
Students: Power.

YB: Let us not waste that power on worldly things and go back home from where we have come empty handed. The Will of the Guru shall prevail and nine hundred and sixty million, we shall be. The prophecy will come true by its own time. We have simple pioneers, taking the flag and walking through the winds of time and darkness of space leading our way, where we all will ultimately meet in peace and harmony, in that tranquility. Let us see, what they can sing for us. This is what Raagies do, they start planning.

Pavan Guru……
Go straight like good girls. Let everybody who can speak, please join them, so they cannot stop.

YB: This is my prayer, that you learn Japji, by heart. You can sing it thoroughly well and when you go back to Punjab and teach those who are forgotten their Japji as ji, both. If you want to master something, teach that. It shall be true. Nanak spoke Japji for those who today don’t have any value for it. You have picked it up, spread it, it will open up many doors for you, for those who are walking in darkness by the self realization, it is the simplest way, very simple, I am hopeful that you will remember it. My personal thanks to each one of you, for coming, for participating and for understanding. Still we have one day, let us do our best. Thank you.
